Rochdale Businesses Lead the Way in Collaboration, Sustainability and Economic Growth
Rochdale’s reputation as a hub for business growth and sustainability has taken another step forward with RAP Renewables securing the contract to deliver an 800kW solar installation at Cleland McIver’s new state-of-the-art facility at Kingsway Business Park. The project will see a cutting-edge solar array covering 14,450 square metres, offsetting up to 30% of the facility’s annual electricity usage.
This partnership underscores the importance of local collaboration in driving economic and environmental progress. Following a competitive pitch, RAP Renewables was chosen for its comprehensive approach, offering services from initial electrical and structural surveys to final certification and ongoing maintenance. The 5-week project will incorporate 1,455 high-efficiency solar panels, alongside a live monitoring platform to ensure optimal performance and efficiency for Cleland McIver’s operations.
Paul Adams, Operations Director at Cleland McIver, shared:
“We’re thrilled to partner with RAP on this important project, which will help future-proof our operations with clean, renewable energy. RAP’s tailored approach and commitment to long-term value made them the right choice for this installation.”
This project is a testament to Rochdale’s thriving business ecosystem, supported by the Rochdale Development Agency (RDA). Established in 1993 to promote economic development, the RDA has been instrumental in helping local businesses like Cleland McIver grow, innovate, and maintain strong ties to the local community. Lee Storey, Head of Renewables at RAP, emphasised the significance of the project:
“This 800kW installation demonstrates our capability to deliver high-capacity renewable energy solutions. Partnering with Cleland McIver allows us to showcase how industrial solar projects can reduce emissions and energy costs while supporting Rochdale’s green economy.”
The Kingsway Business Park location places Cleland McIver at the heart of Rochdale’s business renaissance, alongside leading names like Amazon, JD Group, and Danish Crown. As part of the Atom Valley Mayoral Development Zone, the area will soon host the Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing Centre (SMMC), reinforcing the region’s position as a leader in sustainable innovation.
