Super Six Celebrate 20 years at BES

Twenty years after Rochdale business BES was first established, the company’s start-up team of six have been celebrating the anniversary. All six have an unbroken record of two decades of service, leading a staff that now numbers 180.

Established by Steve Marsh, who has recently become executive chairman, along with two co-directors in 2002, BES is an expert in the design and construction of specialist facilities for the discovery,

development and manufacture of life changing medicines and technologies within the pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare and advanced manufacturing sectors. The five employees who were handpicked by Steve when the company was established have all played a key part in its success, and are now in senior roles as the business hits a £100 million turnover this year.

The team of six has steered BES from an ambitious start-up to a market leader in its sector over the past 20 years, with a multi-disciplinary team delivering £multi-million turnkey projects from feasibility study through to design, construction and commissioning. The company has become a major employer in Rochdale, nurturing talent through apprenticeships, graduate recruitment and internship opportunities and the town has remained BES’ HQ location, with a southern office in Milton Keynes.

“BES has been built on a culture of collaboration and developing people,” comments Steve Marsh, “and that culture has helped us retain best people in the industry over the past 20 years, including the team I originally recruited all these years ago. More like friends than colleagues, they have been instrumental in building the BES that is so successful today, and will remain pivotal to the ongoing success of the business as we enter our third decade of trading and drive further growth.”
