Companies across Rochdale are once again being given the chance to show they’re the business, with nominations now open for the Rochdale Business Awards 2016.

The annual celebration, now in its sixth year, aims to highlight the achievements of Rochdale’s vibrant business community, which includes long established multi-nationals, such as Yearsleys and Lancashire Farm Dairies, as well as new companies, like the Serious Brewing co and Barnes Logistics.

Businesses will be battling it out in a number of categories, including business of the year, business person of the year and most promising young business.

Entries must be submitted by Friday 30 September, with all winners being announced in a glittering ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 4 November.

Richard Farnell, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “I’ve been lucky enough to meet a lot of business owners in the borough and I’m continually impressed by the sheer level of talent we have here.

“Many a time I’ve walked into a small unassuming building to find the company that’s based there is creating something no one else in the country can produce or exporting to countries all over the world. The business awards are an opportunity for us to celebrate their success and all the jobs and investment they create.”

The awards are organised by a team which includes Rochdale Borough Council, Hopwood Hall College and NatWest bank, with sponsorship from local businesses. All proceeds from the night go to Springhill Hospice.

A new category, Apprentice of the Year, has been introduced to the awards for the first time this year, to recognise the importance of young people in the workforce.
