EMO Hannover 2023 didn’t simply provide PTG Holroyd with a platform to showcase its industry leading helical rotor and gear milling and grinding machines to a global audience. During the event, the UK-based machine tool manufacturer was presented with Siemens’ Digital Transformer award.

The name ‘EMO’ stands for ‘Exposition Mondiale de la Machine Outil’, which translates into ‘World Exhibition for Machine Tools’ in French, and is one on the most important global trade fairs for machine tool and metal processing industry, along with the internationally recognised awards that celebrate the game-changers and innovators who push the boundaries of machine tool production.

PTG Holroyd was the first UK-based machine tool manufacturer to embrace the capabilities of Siemens’ future-proofed SINUMERIK ONE CNC, and the Digital Transformer award reflected the company’s approach to digitalisation when designing its new HG350 range of gear and helical profile grinding machines.

“It was an incredible honour to accept the award on behalf of the entire PTG Holroyd team,” says PTG Holroyd’s Sales Director, Mark Curran. “We have always built advanced machine tools that simplify the manufacture of complex helical components.”

Commenting on Siemens’ decision to recognise PTG Holroyd with its Digital Transformer award, Sarah Black-Smith, General Manager Motion Control at Siemens, added: “PTG Holroyd has more than met its objectives of reducing time to market, controlling costs through design and improving machine build and commission time, ultimately providing machine tool operators with an enhanced user experience and simplified component production. The digital technology that Siemens offers has given PTG Holroyd a competitive advantage in terms of efficient engineering.”

PTG Holroyd is not only a global industry leader in its field, but is also a key driver in ensuring the town firmly remains a Mecca for both manufacturing and advanced machinery, with Dr Tony Bannon being instrumental in securing significant investment from the Strength in Places Fund placing Rochdale at the very heart of driving economic resilience and productivity with initiatives such as Atom Valley and AMPI strengthening the innovation ecosystem,.

The Rochdale Development Agency along with The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) are leading the £22.6m Advanced Manufacturing & Productivity Institute (AMPI) project, the UK’s Research & Innovation’s flagship Strength in Places Fund, which will be used to drive innovation for the UK’s advanced machinery manufacturers.
