New plumbing and bathroom firm hoping to make a splash

A growing company which has set up in Rochdale’s Globe Business Park is hoping to make world of difference to those who need a plumber or new bathroom.
The Hudspith family, who have just opened Plumbworks, previously ran SH Gascare, which provided heating engineer and plumbing services.
But the enterprising team decided to grow their business and start selling bathrooms alongside plumbing services, so customers have a one-stop shop. The company also sells parts and counts tradesmen among its clientele.
Steve Hudspith said: “It’s a really exciting time for our business and we wanted to stay in Rochdale as we grew because it’s a great location. We’re really close to the motorway networks and the people are fantastic.”
And the family is looking to make use of the council’s dedicated business advisor, joint-funded by the Business Growth Hub, to help make their new venture a success. The service, which is fully-funded, offers businesses in the borough specialist support in a whole range of areas, including digital, marketing and sales.
Steve added: “It’s really good that businesses in Rochdale have free access to a dedicated business growth advisor who can help us on areas where we need specialist support. We’re qualified plumbers, but that doesn’t mean we know about websites and how best to promote our products.
“The Business Growth Hub has already offered us help to improve search engine optimisation on our website, as well support on our sales and marketing strategy, and I think that will really help us get bigger and better. We’ve already employed an apprentice to help meet demand, so who knows where we can go with this extra help?”
Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, Councillor Richard Farnell, said: “It’s great to see this family firm going strong. They have obviously enjoyed success in Rochdale and are now looking to stay here as they take their business to the next level, with the help of the council’s dedicated business growth advisor.
“Thanks to enterprising locals like the Hudspiths, our business parks are filling up fast, and helping to make our borough a wealthier place with more job opportunities for our residents. Their showroom looks the business and I’m sure new customers will soon come flooding in.”
