“I’m one of the newer recruits to the Innovations team, having formerly worked in marketing at Hopwood Hall College and in business development at Rochdale Borough Council. My remit at the RDA is quite wide but includes property searches, events and supporting projects within the team such as Fire-Up, the new co-working space in the old fire station.

My job is to help businesses looking to relocate to Rochdale, and those that are already located in the area and might be looking to grow. Whatever the reason, I find out what the business needs and then match that to the property or land we have available.

It’s a huge time saver for businesses, who would otherwise have to search for property themselves. We can offer the service because we keep a detailed view of the commercial property scene in the Borough. We have a list of units that are currently empty, and also have good relationships with letting agents and developers so we know what is likely to become available in the near future.

It’s an exciting time to be working for the RDA because of all the activity around the Northern Gateway and Atom Valley. These major projects will attract more businesses to the area. We already find that demand outstrips supply for good commercial property so these projects are necessary to the future prosperity of the Borough.

As well as property, I offer support to the whole team and pull together details of all the projects that the RDA is currently working on and those that we have coming up, with regards to business events, new developments and other opportunities.”
