Company takes a second unit at Broadfield Business Park, praising the location and excellent business support on offer in the region

Logistics fulfilment provider MW Fulfilment (MWF) has signed a 10-year-lease on a second unit at Broadfield Business Park in a move that will see the business completely relocate from its original base in Bolton.

The company will move into the 18,500 sq. ft. unit, which is next door to its current premises, in mid-September, after fitting out is complete. It will then relocate its remaining Bolton operations to Heywood, just a year after opening its first unit at Broadfield Business Park.

Founder Michael Walls said the decision to relocate lock, stock and barrel to Heywood was an easy one: “The area is very well connected, it’s close to the motorway, and when it comes to recruitment, the support from the Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Borough Council has been simply fantastic.”

MWF has grown rapidly in the last 12 months, and recently took on two new apprentices, one in customer service and the other in finance. When MWF moved to Heywood in August 2020, its plan was to employ 20 people over the following two years. It has now doubled that ambition, in line with accelerated growth.

“Local recruitment schemes like Employment Links and Kickstarter have filled vacancies and given us excellent, skilled and committed staff,” said Michael. “We’ve given chances to people who were long-term unemployed and also taken on excellent apprentices from Hopwood Hall College. The support from all these organisations has been second to none.”

Councillor John Blundell, cabinet member for economy and communications at Rochdale Borough Council and RDA board member said: “It is fantastic to see MW Fulfilment thriving in Rochdale. It is testament to the both the connectivity we have here and the incredible teams we have in the borough dedicated to supporting businesses”.

MWF is a bespoke third party logistic fulfilment provider, meeting the fulfilment needs of a range of B2C and B2B sellers. The business has links with eBay, Amazon and Shopify (among others), and customers range in size from those doing 20 orders a day to one major customer who completes 25,000 orders a month.

MWF offers a complete service, from first class warehousing to click & collect to Amazon preparation and more. State of the art tracking systems mean the company knows where customer stock is located at all times.

Michael added that he expects the company’s growth to continue, as the popularity of online shopping and B2B e-commerce continue after the pandemic.
