Posted by on 15 May 2023
Drac started its journey in October 2009 with the opening of their first office above a hairdressers in Stone, Staffordshire offering a distribution and logistics service. Drac, whose tagline is ‘delivering for our customers’, initially started as Drac Logistics then forming Drac Distribution, followed by Drac Group. In April 2023, Drac Distribution opened a 40,000 sq ft warehouse in Urban Park, Kingsway, signing a 15-year lease.
The Rochdale warehouse is located in the new-build Urban Park, in Kingsway Business Park, a short drive from junction 21 of M62. It is strategically close to Manchester Airport as well as sea ports in Liverpool and Hull. The gated new-build facility in Kingsway Business Park is covered by CCTV and will be used as a warehousing and distribution base in the North of England.
Richie Sutherland, managing director of Drac Distribution, said: “Kingsway is absolutely perfect for us and the facility is everything we wanted. It’s one minute from the motorway and the facilities are superb. Alongside our presence in Scotland and Stone, it gives us good coverage and means we can reduce our carbon footprint. We’ve got space to grow and have 24/7 access.”
The new facility in Rochdale employs six people, including Mike Willoughby as business development manager warehousing and distribution. Staff numbers in Kingsway are set to rise to 22.

RDA support
Richie Sutherland praised the contribution of the RDA. “The Rochdale Development Agency has been really supportive throughout,” he said. “Rochdale has a reputation for its logistics sector so it was perfect for us. The RDA has offered help in finding apprentices, which we’re very grateful for. We’ve not been here long but we’re already talking to a couple of other Kingsway companies and are looking at ways of working together. It’s looking like an excellent decision and I’d recommend Kingsway.”
