A breath of fresh air in Heywood

Chief Executive of Rochdale Borough Council, Steve Rumbelow, recently paid a visit to rapidly expanding local business, Envair Technology. Joined by Michelle McHugh, Business Development Manager from the Rochdale Development Agency, the pair were able to see a world leader in innovative clean air technology solutions in action at the company’s new 63,000 sq. ft. site at Heywood Distribution Park.

Envair Technology has been resident on the site since summer 2021 The move was made possible by private investment of over £1 million.

The visit allowed Steve to see the factory first hand and learn more about how the new facilities have enabled the business to bring more of its state-of-the-art technology and processes in-house, including laser cutting and powder coating.

Reducing its reliance on outsourcing has enabled the company to improve its competitiveness, innovation, and speed to market. Its fume cupboards, for example, are now being used in battery testing for electric vehicles. 

CEO of Envair Technology, Andrew Ellison, commented: “We’re grateful that both Steve and Michelle were able to see for themselves the work that we’re doing to build the business and generate highly skilled jobs in engineering and manufacturing. Support from the Rochdale Development Agency and the council has helped us to make our vision for the Heywood site a reality. We look forward to forging stronger links with the council and local colleges to ensure our region’s young people are being taught the best possible skills to equip them for future roles in the sector.”

Steve added: “Rochdale is home to some incredible manufacturing businesses and Envair Technology is no exception. What I saw during the visit was absolutely first class. It is reassuring to know that Andrew and his team are planning for the future to ensure our young people have great opportunities ahead of them.”
