The Littleborough Station Area Masterplan outlines a vision and strategy for sustainable regeneration, prioritising brownfield development to support zero-carbon goals and unlock disused sites. Developed with extensive stakeholder and public consultation, the plan emphasises improving connectivity, enhancing the public realm, and fostering economic growth. Proposals, widely welcomed, include better linkages to the canal, revitalised station gateways, and the refurbishment of railway arches and properties on Victoria Street to attract footfall and support local businesses. Increased parking provision, including at the station is highly demanded and therefore has been made a priority in plans. The masterplan envisions a vibrant area with new homes, including affordable options, and enhanced commercial spaces to sustain both daytime and night-time economies. Tree planting, cycle infrastructure, and connectivity to the surrounding countryside are integral to the sustainability strategy. Key regeneration sites, such as Canalside and the Coop area, will deliver a mix of housing, retail, and workspace as well as a range of housing types to appeal to young professionals and offering downsizing options for older adults. These neighbourhoods will be supported by enhanced social infrastructure. These plans will be actioned in the pursuit of a dynamic, connected, and attractive Littleborough.
